Welcome to Encore Theatre Company’s 28th year! No matter how you see it, that’s a lot of rehearsals, shows, actors, and volunteers; and we’re ready to do it all over again.  New season, new plays, new members and volunteers and lots of fun to come!

We’re mixing things up a bit this season.  We will present two shows at the Maguire Theater. The first will be “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a hilarious tale of nosey neighbors and mistaken identity, which is already in production and will open September 20,  Amanda Brannon is directing this production.

Our second production at the Maguire will be the musical “Cotton Patch Gospel.” It will open on April 11, Good Friday.  This "Greatest Story Ever Retold" is based on the book The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John by Clarence Jordan in which the Gospel is presented in a setting of rural Georgia with country music songs, the final and perhaps best work of Harry Chapin. Out in the Cold will be featured in this show. Tina Vance is the director for this production.

By popular demand we are bringing back dinner theater.  We will have present two shows at the Encore Workshop. The first is “Tuesdays with Morrie,” opening January 10.  “Tuesdays with Morrie” is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor.  This is performance will be directed by Peter Thompson.

Our final dinner theater “Briefs and Shorts,” is a collection of 10-minute plays.  Each is a complete work on its own; together they present a delightful evening of the unexpected.  Watch for more details as scripts are selected for this unique theatre experience. Briefs and Shorts will open June 12.

You’ll want to get your tickets for the dinner theater events early, they usually sell out.

Also, with a new season, we are encouraging current Dress Circle members to continue their support for this season; and we are inviting YOU to consider joining the Dress Circle. As a Dress Circle member, you can purchase dinner theater tickets early and ensure you don’t miss a thing.

This season we are also introducing our Season Flexpass. Flexpasses offer savings over the cost of single ticket purchases. Each flexpass is good for 2 admission. You can either use it for one admission to each of our shows at the Maguire Theater, or 2 admissions to one of our Maguire performances. Dinner theater evets are NOT included in the Season Flexpass.  Flexpasses will only be available until September 19.

You can find more information on auditions, shows, membership, Dress Circle & season flexpasses here, on our website.  Thanks for your interest in Encore Theatre Company, and we hope to see you soon!
